ACYO Northern Regional Meeting

Published on Nov 13 2007 by Divan of the Diocese

This year, the 2007 Northern Regional Meeting was hosted in beautiful San Fransico at the St. John parish. The meeting commenced at 11:15 on Saturday morning, November 3, 2007, with Central Council, St. Vartan, Oakland, and St. John present. Recording secretary  Lorena Ojakian, began the meeting with fun and interactive ice breakers to allow the members to get a chance to know one another. Following the activity, at 11:30 Central Council and ACYO members met in the conference room to discuss upcoming events and also to see what each chapter has been doing since Convention of 2006. St. Vartan and St. John discussed different events that they have hosted. St. Vartan put on the Poon Parigentan Ball and an end of summer BBQ at the Mazmanian residence, and St. John put on Lenton Services during Easter as well as a chapter trip to Pier 39 in the fall. Both chapters also had representatives at Sports Weekend '07. After the meeting, Deacon Charles Cherezian had an open discussion with the members about Leadership roles within the ACYO and how it can be implemented in our everyday lives. Once the meeting ended, all members met up at the Fisherman's Warf in San Fransisco to enjoy their famous clam chowder, hang out at Pier 39, and visit the Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory. Overall, this past weekend was a great bonding experience for the Northern chapters and Central Council. We were able to interact on a more intimate level and learn more about what is going on in the Northern region. With and end to an amazing weekend, Central Council cannot wait to make the trip back up North again next year.
