On Wednesday, May 17th, the Diocese celebrated the Feast Day of the Ascension of Christ or “Hampartzoom” at the Diocesan Headquarters. At 10:30am the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Fr. Zaven Markosyan, who also delivered the sermon, with nearly 350 faithful in attendance. The traditions of Hampartzoom were observed during the service. Following the Divine Liturgy a luncheon was hosted by the Diocesan Hampartzoom Ladies committee chaired by Mrs. Hermine Janoyan.
Regarding this important feast day of the Armenian Church, the Primate said, “The ascension of our Lord is an important feast in our Christian life. It is a day when the Lord speaks to us, challenging us with a message to preach the word of God to the world, and become the light of humanity.”
