Divine Liturgy And Requiem Service In Van Nuys

Published on Jan 22 2007 by Divan of the Diocese

On, Sunday Jan. 21 the Primate, His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian presided over church services at St. Peter Armenian Church in Van Nuys. Approximately 1000 of the faithful were in attendance. In his sermon the Primate stated the following:

“Christ willingly chose the way of the Cross and ultimately was taken to Heaven.  So it was with Mr. Hrant Dink who chose the path of justice and along with it persecution, torture, and imprisonment. We are all challenged to believe in his dreams and in justice. May God enlighten his soul and grant him access into his heavenly abode"

At the conclusion, a special requiem service was held for Hrant Dink. Services for the Repose of Souls were also held in all the Churches of the Western Diocese in accordance with the directive of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.

On the afternoon of the same day a gathering was held at St. Mary Armenian Church of Glendale regarding the Hrant Dink. The event was organized by community organizations and political parties. The Primate and Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Yardemian, the Vicar General, were in attendance.
