Eagle Rock, CA – On April 4, 2007, during Holy Week, on the occasion of Holy Wednesday, at 10:30am His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian presided over Divine Liturgy for the first time at the Ararat Home for the elderly in Eagle Rock, CA. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Fr. Zare Mansourian. Also serving at the altar was Fr. Zaven Margosian, Dn. Mayis Shahbazian, and Dn. Mkrtich Ksachikyan. The choir consisted of clergymen from throughout the Los Angeles area: Fr. Nshan Beilerian, Fr. Sipan Mekhsian, Fr. Hovsep Hagopian, Fr. Narek Mardaryan, Fr. Tavit Zelveyan and Fr. Arshag Khatchadourian. The Primate delivered a sermon regarding Easter and conveyed his best wishes and blessings to the residents as well as his thanks to the directors and staff for their dedication. Following the liturgy the Primate and clergymen visited the rooms of the elderly and prayed with them.
