The Encino Chamber of Commerce presented the Justice Armand Arabian Leaders in Public Service Awards Luncheon, at the Hilton Woodland Hills, on Thursday, September 27, 2007. His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian gave the invocation and blessed the event with a prayer which included an inspiring excerpt from St. Ignatius of Loyola:
O Almighty God,
Bless us all who are gathered to share with one another your mercy, your gifts. Through today’s banquet we uplift our hands to thank you for the gift of the honorees:
Dr. Marlene R. Bane
Mike Curb
Michel R. Moore
Gloria Pollack
Dr. Keith S. Richman
Richard J. Riordan
Tripti Gupla
Who’ve enriched their lives as leaders in public service and will become recipients of Justice Armand Arabian award through this celebration.
As we recognize the honorees, we once again recognize the good services of Justice Armand Arabian. It is through this kind of gatherings that a human being—as well as a gathering—is spiritually transformed. The spiritual transformation should be considered a virtue.
We fervently ask Almighty God to bless us all and guide us all in the service of the community.
A prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola is most appropriate for this auspicious occasion as we honor leaders in the pubic service with the Justice Amand Arabian award:
Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as you deserve, to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to ask for any reward except knowing that we do your will.
