Our Home-Mer Doon Gala Concert and Reception

In the afternoon of March 2, 2008, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian presided over the Our Home-Mer Doon concert and reception, held at St. Peter Armenian Church in Van Nuys, California. “Ladies and Gentlemen, we extend to you our deepest gratitude for your support. Mer Doon is a noble cause and the commitment of our donors is much appreciated. Mer Doon is a God-pleasing mission, which aims to change the lives of the unprivileged children of Armenia. Here I would like to extend my special appreciation to the Board members and especially to their leaders Ms. Adrienne Krikorian, whose vision inspires us all to participate in the mission of Mer Doon. A deserving recognition needs to be given to the family of St. Peter Armenian Church, under the able leadership of Fr. Shnork, who incorporated tonight’s fundraising Gala Concert in the course of their 50th anniversary events, which truly reflects the spirit of giving for the needy. In closing, I would like to express my most sincere commendations on behalf of all those present here tonight for the Santa Barbara Choral Society and Orchestra and to their exceptional conductor Jo Anne Gondjian Wasserman. Music, art, culture are the best tools which help people to better understand the mission of their God-given life. Dear Jo Anne and members of Santa Barbara Choral Society and Orchestra your performance will certainly bring us all a step closer to God, thus reawakening within our souls a special moment of prayer for the gift of Mer Doon. God bless you all.” -Archbishop Hovnan Derderian
