Primate’s Schedule - January 2008

  • On January 1, 2008, the Primate celebrates Divine Liturgy and offers sermon at St. Peter Armenian Church of Glendale followed by the dedication ceremony of the holy imagery.
  • On January 2, 2008, the Primate visits the Ararat Armenian Home to preside over the Blessing of Water Ceremony and bless the elderly residents.
  • On January 3, 2008, the Primate visits the Eagle Rock Ararat Nursing Home to preside over the Blessing of Water Ceremony and bless the elderly residents.
  • On January 5, 2008, the Primate visits St. John Armenian Church of Hollywood for the Eve of Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ to celebrate Divine Liturgy and offer the sermon, followed by a reception in the Taglyan Cultural Center.
  • On January 6, 2008, on the feast day of Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Primate celebrates Divine Liturgy, offers sermon and conduct the Blessing of the Water. The Christmas Reception will take place at the Kalaydjian Hall located at the Western Diocesan Headquarters, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • On January 9, 2008: Los Angeles Religious Leaders’ Meeting.
  • On January 12, 2008, the Primate presides over the Diocesan Council Meeting at St. Paul Armenian Church of Fresno, California. The Primate will also meet with the 5 local Parish Councils, Diocesan Representatives and the 80th anniversary committee.
  • On January 13, 2008, the Primate celebrates Divine Liturgy and offers sermon at St. Paul Armenian church of Fresno, California. The Christmas Reception for the Central California region will follow the church service.
  • On January, 15, 2008, Diocesan Clergy Meeting; Los Angeles Times Religious Section Editior.
  • On January 16, 2008, Joint Armenian-Episcopalian Dialogue Committee meeting.
  • On January 17, 2008, a joint celebration of Divine Liturgy of Oriental Orthodox Churches is held in Montebello.
  • On January 19, 2008, the 4th annual ACYO leadership conference is held at the Diocesan Headquarters; in the evening, upon the invitation of Cardinal Roger Mohony, the Primate and the Vicar General of the Western Diocese, the Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Dz. V. Yardemian, will attend the annual Requiem for the Unborn at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
  • On January 20, 2008, on the feast day of St. Sarkis the Captain, the Primate will pay a pastoral visit to St. Sarkis Armenian Church in East Los Angeles to celebrate Divine Liturgy and offer sermon. Later the same day, the Primate will preside over a reception on the occasion of the designation and naming of the church after St. Sarkis the Captain.
  • In the evening of January 20, 2008, the Primate will preside over the annual Stewardship reception at Kalaydjian Hall of the Western Diocese in Burbank, California.
  • On January 25, 2008, a special event commemorating Hrant Dink, organized by the Organization of Istanbul Armenians, will take place at the Western Diocese.
  • On January 27, 2008, the Primate celebrates Divine Liturgy and offer sermon in Arizona. The Primate will also present commendation letters and ordain a deacon; on the same day the Dean of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary will celebrate Divine Liturgy and offer sermon at St. Paul of Fresno.
  • On January 28, 2008, the Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan, Dean of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary visits the Western Diocesan Headquarters.
  • On January 29, 2008, on the occasion of the St. Ghevont the Priest and Companions feast day, the Diocesan Clergy Conference will be held at St. John of Hollywood; in the evening, the Primate will be celebrating Divine Liturgy and offering sermon at St. John of Hollywood, followed by a reception—dedicated to St. Nersess Seminary.
