On Wednesday, April 25^th, 2007 Their Eminences Abp. Hovnan Derderain and Abp. Vatche Hovsepian attended the grand opening of the West Tower, a new wing of the Glendale Adventist Hospital. During the program Abp. Hovnan Derderian addressed those in attendance and recalled the visit of His Holiness Karekin II in 2005, when he himself visited the Glendale Adventist Hospital and presented them with the khatchkar which will be placed in the West Tower.

Dear Board Members, Distinguished guests,

The words of St. Paul the Apostle certainly challenge us all to be responsible for all the gifts bestowed upon us by God.  Glendale Adventist Hospital has truly been a beacon of hope and light for the past one hundred years for all those who have come to this very place for care.  All those who have put their heart and soul, their total dedication and services in this hospital, have truly understood the depth of the words of St. Paul: "And God has appointed in the Church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles…"

You are challenged to continue to be workers of miracles in the life of those, who are striving for help and care.   The opening and dedication of the New Glendale Adventist Medical Center West Tower is the reflection of your commitment to serve the society with all the necessary facilities thus turning your lives into spiritual tools in the hands of God.

As an institute of care and mercy in this community, Glendale Adventist has also paid spent significant time in outreach to the Armenian population, for which I extend the gratitude to the members of the community and assure you that their engagement in the mission of this hospital will increase.

On this special and historic day of the opening and dedication of the New Glendale Adventist Medical Center West Tower, we remember the pontifical visit of His Holiness Karekin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians, who in appreciation of your commitment to improve the health and wellness of our community has presented Glendale Adventist Hospital with a Khatchkar an Armenian Cross Stone.  This khatchkar will always be the speaking tongue to us all in reminding us each time we enter into this building. "You are workers of miracles."
