Published on Jan 03 2007 by Divan of the Diocese

On Sunday January 7th at St. Peter Armenian Church of Glendale the community will be able to sign up for the National Bone Marrow Program from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. A community member and altar server, Steve Kechichian, who has leukemia needs the support of the community to help find candidates for a bone marrow transplant.

Steve KechichianSteve Kechichian has been battling leukemia since age seven. After extensive chemotherapy, Steve enjoyed a brief period where the cancer seemed to be in remission. Unfortunately, the cancer has returned and Steve (age 12) is now starting a new round of chemotherapy.

He will be aggressively fighting the cancer through Christmas and New Year. A bone-marrow transplant will make a difference in Steve's case. Thirty percent of all patients needing a bone marrow transplant will find a suitable donor within his or her family. The other 70% of patients rely on unrelated volunteer donors.
