Summer Camp Committee Meets; Plans Upcoming Year

Published on Jan 18 2008 by Divan of the Diocese

The Western Diocese Summer Camp Committee gathered for its second regular meeting of the 2008 Summer Camp season on Saturday, January 5th at St. Paul, Fresno. We joined other Diocesan organizations, including Camp Board, Diocesan Council and ACYO Central council, at a luncheon and open forum discussion hosted by Abp. Hovnan Derderian. As usual, during the course of the Camp Committee meeting, representatives from those executive boards previously mentioned met with the Camp committee to give updates on the happenings of their respective organizations and to help continue an open dialogue between the Camp Committee and the rest of the Diocesan community. This was a very productive meeting for us and we received some great updates from the committees who met with us. We learned more about the new organizational structure of the ACYO, that the Camp Board has some re-landscaping plans on the table for “The Hill” and that the Boat House will be fully functioning by the time Summer Camp begins!

As you may have already heard, this year there will be four (4) weeks of Summer Camp and at this meeting we finalized the dates for this upcoming summer 2008. They will be as follows… Week 1: July 13th – 19th / Week 2: July 20th – 26th / Week 3: July 27th – Aug 2nd / Week 4: Aug 3rd – 9th. Four (4) weeks of Camp, equals more kids and more kids equals more opportunities to become a Summer Camp Counselor, CIT or Staff member. Make sure to put Camp on your calendar now, because we’d love to have you there! Staff applications for 2008 will be available online February 1st on the Camp website (www.hyecamp.com) and while applications are not accepted on a first come first serve basis, submitting your applications early will give us the best opportunity to take your preferences into consideration when making staffing choices. So, send them in quickly! As is the tradition, camper applications will be available on the Camp website Easter Sunday, March 23rd.
