The month of October is also referred to as Armenian Cultural Month at the Alfred and Marguerite Hovsepian School in Pasadena. Throughout this special month, students from all levels celebrate by participating in uniquely designed programs and activities.

Organized and headed by the Armenian Language Teaching Staff, this year's celebration took place on October 30 at the school auditorium. Among the attendees were Rev. Archpriest Fr. Sarkis Petoyan, the school principal Mr. Shahe Mankerian, the teaching staff and the parents.

The stage of the auditorium was beautifully decorated with the masks of famous Armenian philologists Lord Bryce, Anatole France and Heinrich Hubschmann.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Liza Manoyan stressed the importance of educating the young generation. She commended the parents for raising such wonderful children who are dedicated to preserving the Armenian culture.

The K-8 students presented a very interesting program. Students in levels K-3 recited and performed beautiful dances. Furthermore, the fourth grade students personified as historical Armenian walked on to the stage as the seventh and eighth grade students were reciting a poem by Hovhannes Tumanyan. The fifth grade students presented an uplifting dance. The sixth grade students staged a play by Avetik Isahakyan. The program concluded as the seventh and eighth grade students recited a famous poem by Paruyr Sevak.

School principal Mr. Shahe Mankerian praised the organizing staff and the students for the wonderful event.

All attendees were treated to a tasty dessert prepared by our chef Mrs. Raquel Titizian.

We would like to extend our special appreciation to organizers Ms. Becky Jishbashian, Ms. Elmira Simonyan, Mrs. Tsoline Kevorkian, Mrs. Garin Seoilemezian and Mrs. Liza Manoian who work tirelessly every year to prepare the program.
