Assumption of Mary Is Celebrated at Western Diocese: Primate Celebrates Divine Liturgy, Delivers the Sermon and Blesses the Grapes
On Sunday, August 17, 2008, hundreds of enthusiastic faithful gathered in the temporary sanctuary of the Western Diocese to participate in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and the deliverance of sermon as well as the Blessing of Grapes tradition by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate. Fr. Khajag Shabazyan, Pastor of the Burbank Parish, and several deacons and acolytes assisted the Primate at the holy altar. Upon the conclusion of the church service, the blessed grapes were distributed among the faithful in remembrance of the Mother of God and Her Assumption in the third day of Her passing, who lives in Heaven in Her resurrected holy body as is promised to faithful in the last day – by Her Son and the Lord Jesus Christ.
