Burbank, CA – It is with great anticipation that the faithful of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church await the upcoming ground breaking event, where the construction for the Cathedral of the Western Diocese will begin. On May 3rd, at 11:30am, several hundred spectators will gather to see the Primate of the Western Diocese, His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian, signal the construction vehicles to begin laying the foundation for what will be the largest Armenian Church in the Western United States.
The beginning of the construction of the cathedral is the realization of years of work to design a beautiful and functional Armenian Church that meets the needs of the community and to receive full approval from all official bodies involved. Therefore, this event will truly be a historical moment of celebration for the Western Diocese. Several community leaders and dignitaries are slated to speak at the event.
In his remarks the Primate said, “On this occasion we will approach the Lord in prayer for his blessings and success in the construction of the Cathedral.”
Upon the completion of the program, all participants will be invited to enjoy a luncheon in the adjacent Kalaydjian Hall.
