The Office of the Western Diocese is delighted to announce the Fifth Pontifical visit of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians to the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America from April 28 – May 6, 2013. On May 3, the Pontiff will preside over the 86th Annual Diocesan Assembly at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral in Burbank, California.
Message of His Holiness KAREKIN II Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Divine Liturgy celebrated in the newly consecrated Saints Ghevondiants, Mother Cathedral of the Western Diocese
The message of His Holiness KAREKIN II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, on the Eve of the Feast of the Holy Cross (Khachverats), and the Consecration of the Saints Ghevondiants Mother Cathedral, of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America.
The Western Diocese is happy to announce that the Consecration of the Cathedral of the Western Diocese performed by His Holiness Karekin II on September 11, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. will be broadcast on the Internet for the faithful of the Western Diocese and around the world. There are also plans to broadcast the Pontifical Divine Liturgy which will be held on September 12 at 10:30 a.m.
On September 1, 2010 at 7:00 p.m., the Primate consecrated the icons of the St. Leon Cathedral. He was assisted by the Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Dz. V. Yardemian, Vicar General, and Rev. Frs. Khajag Shahbazyan and Avedis Abovian.
The Western Diocese is happy to announce that in a special meeting, held on August 18, between the Honorable Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian, the Mayor accepted the Primate’s invitation to attend and celebrate the consecration of the newly constructed Cathedral of the Western Diocese on September 11 and the Pontifical Banquet on September 12.
By the invitation of the Primate of the Western Diocese, His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian and the Diocesan Council, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, will visit the Western Diocese in order to conduct the consecration of the Diocesan Cathedral on September 10-12.
