L.A. County Board of Supervisors, Supervisior Antonovich presented a Commemorative resolution on the 93rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide to His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian
His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, accompanied by several representatives from the Western Diocese, attended the L.A. County Board of Supervisors’ Commemoration of the 93rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide which was held during the regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors on April 22, 2008. Representatives from several other Armenian organizations also attended the meeting.
Supervisor Antonovich in his remarks highly emphasized the importance of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, also, lauded the critical importance of such commemorations in bringing awareness about the evil and heinousness of genocide to the general public. His Eminence continued: “Homage and commemoration of the memory of the victims of the Genocide implies respect to their memory. Homage and commemoration of the victims of the Genocide implies commitment on our part to uphold firm our faith, culture and traditions. Today we once again thank God for making this freedom-loving country a blessing for the orphans and the survivors of the Genocide.”
In conclusion, on behalf of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, Supervisior Antonovich presented a Commemorative resolution on the 93rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide to the Primate of the Western Diocese.
