January 25, 2007 — As Armenians throughout the world mourn the senseless murder of journalist Hrant Dink, community leaders have vowed to keep his name and ideals alive with the establishment of the "Hrant Dink Foundation." The primary purpose of the foundation will be to disseminate the message and vision of Mr. Dink and support the continued efforts of Agos newspaper, of which Dink was the founder and editor-in-chief.
January 22, 2007 — On, Sunday Jan. 21 the Primate, His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian presided over church services at St. Peter Armenian Church in Van Nuys. Approximately 1000 of the faithful were in attendance.
January 22, 2007 — On Saturday, January 21 the Sahag-Levon Mgrditchian College Alumni honored Mr. Harout Sassounian, President of United Armenia Fund. The event was held at the Rococo Room of Pasadena, CA. His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian was in attendance accompanied by Abp. Vatche Hovsepian and Fr. Arshag Khatchadourian.
January 22, 2007 — On Saturday, 20 January 2007 a Requiem Service for the Unborn was held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels of the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. On the invitation of His Eminence Cardinal Roger Magoney Western Diocese Clergy were in attendance.
January 22, 2007 — January 20 at the Glendale First Baptist Church an ecumenical service was held which included prayer and the singing of hymns. Diocesan clergy were in attendance and the Children’s Choir of St. Sarkis, East Los Angeles performed.
January 21, 2007 — Preparations are underway for the 36th Annual Debutante Ball sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church. The ball will be held on Sunday, February 18 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
January 21, 2007 — One of the recent activities of the Ladies Auxiliary has established Bible Studies sessions, a program recently organized at the Western Diocese.

January 19, 2007 — It is with great sorrow that we received the tragic news of the assassination of Hrant Dink, the prominent intellectual and editor in chief of the Agos newspaper in Istanbul, Turkey. Hrant Dink joins the group of martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. His dedication and courage has earned the admiration of not only his readers in Turkey, but the entire Armenian Diaspora.The Western Diocese of the Armenian Church will hold a special vigil tonight at 8:00pm at the Diocesan Headquarters, in Burbank, and would like to invite the faithful to join us in this solemn occasion. A short video will be shown of Mr. Dink’s recent visit to the Diocese on November 5th, 2006. Our prayers go out to his friends and relatives who are grieving at this time, as well as to the entire Armenian Community inside Turkey and throughout the world. God bless his soul. January 15, 2007 — On Saturday, January 13, 2007 the Holy Translators School (Srpotz Tarkmanchatz) Alumni of North America and the Friends of the Jerusalem Armenians organized the 8th annual Christmas Eve Service at St. John’s Armenian Church in Hollywood.
January 10, 2007 — With Events beginning on New Years day to the weekend following Christmas, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, our dedicated clergy, the lay-leaders, and faithful of the Western Diocese celebrated the New Year and the miraculous birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
January 9, 2007 — During the Holiday Season, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, was heartened to receive donations from many members of the Armenian community to assist in providing modest scholarship to help with tuitions for approximately fifty individuals.
January 9, 2007 — The Western Diocese in conjunction with the Ladies Society will be hosted Bible studies on a wide ranging topics beginning January 16th until March 27. These bible studies will be held in the Armen and Gloria Hampar Reception Hall of the Western Diocese from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon, every other tuesday.

January 3, 2007 — On Sunday January 7th at St. Peter Armenian Church of Glendale the community will be able to sign up for the National Bone Marrow Program from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. A community member and altar server, Steve Kechichian, who has leukemia needs the support of the community to help find candidates for a bone marrow transplant.
