Traditionally, the Primate of the Western Diocese celebrates Divine Liturgy and offers sermon on the New Year’s Day—the first day of the year—at the newly established churches, throughout the Diocese. This year, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, celebrated Divine Liturgy and offered the sermon at St. Peter Armenian Church—Youth Center. In his sermon, the Primate stressed the importance of living a God-pleasing life and using each day to fulfill the Mission of the Church—a concept that has always been practiced by the vibrant parishioners of St. Peter of Glendale, under the outstanding leadership of Fr. Vazken Movsesian. Archpriest Fr. Gourgen Mouradian, Father Confessor of St. Peter Church of Glendale, Archpriest Fr. Vartan Dulgarian and Archpriest Dr. Fr. Zaven Arzoumanian were also present during the New Year’s Day church service.
