AGBU World Games Conclude with Victory Ball Celebrations
Saturday night, August, 4, 2012, saw over 1,700 AGBU athletes, coaches, family members, fans and supporters from over a dozen global cities gather together at the amazing Universal Studios for the sold out AGBU 2012 World Games Victory Ball – the culmination point during a week of exciting athletic competitions and social activities that once again reinforced the strong bonds among our organization’s youth.
Attending the event, Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian delivered his heartfelt remarks to the organizers and athletes. “Tonight’s Victory Ball celebration delivers a powerful message of the rebirth of a nation, whose sons and daughters were martyred with the vision of independent Armenia, with the rebirth of our motherland Armenia,” said His Eminence.
“The Armenian General Benevolent Union, a divine institution, has been graced upon you so that with the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie, you may reawaken within you the meaning and purpose of your God-given lives…As you depart to your respective country, I ask you to carry on the torch of leadership for the young generation. Enrich your God-given lives by demonstrating your love for Armenia and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the spiritual center and the unifying bridge of the Armenian people” he concluded.
