Construction Progresses on Schedule for Mother Cathedral

The memorable day of May 3, 2008, became a day of celebration for the Diocesan faithful and friends alike, marking the beginning of the construction of the Mother Cathedral, held in conclusion of the 81st Diocesan Assembly.

Beginning May 5, 2008, the construction of the Mother Cathedral has been progressing in a timely fashion as per project timetable.  The Cathedral Building Committee headed by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, meets regularly to deal with various issues pertaining to the project, e.g., organizing various fundraising functions to secure adequate funds for the timely completion of the Mother Cathedral project.

In a recent published booklet by the Western Diocese about the construction of the Mother Cathedral, the Primate, in his message, reemphasized the importance of this God-pleasing project in the following words: “Let us turn the vision of building our Mother Cathedral into a mission by which our spirits will all unite for the glory of God. The Mother Cathedral will become the eternal home in presence. This Cathedral will enable us to see beyond the horizon – to see the sanctuary in which our children will come closer to Holy Etchmiadzin.”
