It is with deep sorrow that we inform the passing of the Rev. Fr. Papken Maksoudian, the father of the Very Rev. Fr. Krikor Maksoudian. Faher Papken passed away on October 15, in Arlington, MA. He was 103.

Born in Adana in 1909, Fr. Papken Maksoudian fled to Cyprus with his mother during the evacuation of Cilicia in 1921. He studied at the seminary of the Catholicate of Cilicia and was ordained to the holy priesthood on December 4, 1949.

In the Eastern Diocese, Fr. Maksoudian served as pastor of the Holy Trinity Church in Boston for more than 20 years. He was also a member of the Diocesan Council for eight years, and served in other local and international Armenian organizations.

Fr. Maksoudian was married for 50 years to Azadouhi Kassabian, who passed away in 1986. He is survived by their two children—Fr. Krikor Maksoudian and Arpie Maksoudian Highgas—four grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

The wake and visiting hours were held at the St. James Armenian Church of Watertown, MA (465 Mount Auburn Street), on Friday, October 19, at 5 p.m. The dahn gark (wake) service was held at 7 p.m.

The Final Anointing and Burial took place on Saturday, October 20, also at the St. James Church; the celebration of the Divine Liturgy began at 9 a.m.
