“Lion’s Den” Dedication Ceremony at Hye Camp
On Sunday, August 5, 2012, more than one hundred campers gathered for the blessing and dedication of the “Lion’s Den”, an area of Hye Camp where a series of events including talent shows, games, plays and award presentations cap off the exciting week. Present at the dedication ceremony were members of immediate and extended Lion family. Assisted by deacons, Archpriest Fr. Yeghia Hairabedian, Pastor of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church, presided over the blessing and dedication of the Lion’s Den.
Father Yeghia read the Primate’s message addressed to the Lion family wherein His Eminence wrote: “Throughout the years, the Lion family has supported the mission of the Western Diocese through their vast contributions to Camp Hye Sierra, better known as Hye Camp to hundreds of campers. For 50 years, Hye Camp has provided a serene retreat-like atmosphere where campers have enjoyed their heritage, culture and faith. The dedication of the “Lion’s Den” is indeed a milestone in the life of Hye Camp as the ceremony marks the official opening of what surely promises to be one of the most-liked spots for campers. The “Lion’s Den” will be the center of games, skits and dances. Resembling the architectural style of a miniature Greek Theater, campers will showcase their God-given talents to their peers. The Lion’s Den will play an instrumental role in the camp life and will contribute to memories that will last a lifetime.”
Representing the Primate in the Fourth Week of Camp were Archpriest Fr. Moushegh Tashjian, Archpriest Fr. Yeghia Hairabedian, Archpriest Fr. Sarkis Petoyan, Rev. Fr. Hovel Ohanyan, Rev. Fr. Nerses Hayrapetyan and Rev. Fr. Mesrob Ash. The clergymen conducted religious studies sessions with the campers and delivered their homilies.
