PRIESTHOOD-CANDIDATES GATHERING AT WESTERN DIOCESE

On August 7, 2008, the Priesthood-Candidates of the Western Diocese attended a meeting with His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, at the Diocesan Headquarters. Very Rev. Fr. Dajad Dz. V. Yardemian, Vicar General, who oversees the priesthood preparation program, was also present during this meeting. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, Burbank Parish Priest, and Fr. Avedis Abovian, Youth Director, also were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, His Eminence examined the progress made by each one of the Priesthood-Candidates in their spiritual journey towards servitude of Christ and His people, and provided them with necessary instructions and guidance on various spiritual and educational issues.In his remarks, the Primate expanded on the issue of moral responsibility that the Priesthood-Candidates bore towards themselves, their families as well as the family of the Church. His Eminence encouraged the candidates to become excellent students as they journeyed in preparation to serve God. Discipline in observance of the rites and rituals of the Church and the critical necessity of a prayerful life for a successful Priesthood-Candidate were some of the other topics discussed by His Eminence during this meeting.
