Primate Attends Memorial Concert Dedicated to Famous Musician Khachatur Avetisyan

On February 28, 2010, the Primate attended a musical concert dedicated to world-famous Armenian composer Khachatur Avetisyan.

The concert was held in the Glendale High School Auditorium and was hosted by Nune Avetisyan. In his closing statement, the Primate reflected on the life of Khachatur Avetisyan and thanked the Armenian Dance Center, Mr. and Mrs. Vartan Aghajanyan and Mr. Andranik Muradyan for wonderfully organizing the event.    

At the age of 25, Khachatur Avetisyan became the first Armenian composer to be honored with gold medals in Berlin and Moscow in international competitions. In addition to his studies in classical music, Avetisyan became an authority in Armenian folk music and traditional instruments. The composer dedicated his creative life to researching and developing the performance of Armenian folk music. Khachatur Avetisyan passed away in 1996 at the age of 70.
