Primate Calls for Prayer for the Health and Recovery of Armenian Patriarchs
Published on Jan 27 2012 by Communications Department
On Friday, January 27, 2012, Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian issued a directive asking all Diocesan priests to pray for the health and recovery of His Beatitude Archbishop Torkom Manookian, Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem and His Beatitude Archbishop Mesrob II Moutafian, Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople.
On Sunday, January 29, following the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, all parishes across the Western Diocese will follow their priests in singing “Der Voghormia” (Lord Have Mercy) for the health and recovery of the leaders of the respective hierarchical sees.
On January 19, Patriarch Torkom Manoogian was admitted to a hospital in Jerusalem, Israel, where he is resting comfortably but has been drifting in and out of consciousness. Patriarch Torkom will turn 93 next month.
We ask the faithful to keep the Patriarchs in their thoughts and pray for their health and recovery.
