Primate Celebrates Divine Liturgy at St. John in San Francisco – Parishioner Charlie Tateosian Honored with Encyclical

On Sunday, August 5, 2012, Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian paid a pastoral visit to St. John Armenian Apostolic Church in San Francisco where he presided over the church service. St. John Pastor Rev. Fr. Mesrob Ash, was the day’s celebrant. During the service, parishioner Charlie Tateosian was recognized with a Pontifical Encyclical for his outstanding service to St. John Armenian Church and the Western Diocese. The honoree, along with his wife Mary, approached the nave where the Encyclical of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians was read aloud by Archbishop Derderian.

“We commend your invaluable contribution and selfless service rendered to St. John Armenian Apostolic Church in San Francisco and to the community as a whole. You have been an instrumental figure in the construction of the parish and have taken on many administrative roles in the life of St. John Armenian Apostolic Church. You have served with grace and humility, for your kind deeds are exemplary and spiritually enriching, indeed.

…In recognition of your years of loyal and selfless service rendered to the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church, and at the request of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, we congratulate you on your 90th birthday and hereby confer upon you this PONTIFICAL MESSAGE OF BLESSING” wrote His Holiness in part.

His Eminence congratulated Charlie Tateosian for his years of wonderful service rendered to the faithful community of St. John. The service was followed by a reception in honor of Charlie Tateosian.
