Primate of Romania Celebrates Divine Liturgy at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral

At the invitation of Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, on Sunday, June 10, 2012, His Grace Bishop Datev Hagopian, Primate of the Diocese of Romania, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the day’s sermon at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral. Assisting Bishop Hagopian at the holy altar was Diocesan Youth Director Rev. Fr. Avedis Abovian and the deacons of the Cathedral Parish.

A great number of faithful including members of the Romanian Armenian community attended the service. On the occasion of the Feast Day of the Catholicon of Holy Etchmiadzin, Prayers of Pontifical Service (Hayrabedagan Maghtank) was held during the service. The moving liturgical hymn “Lord Have Mercy” (Der Voghormia) was sung by the Cathedral Choir and the congregation for the health of Archpriest Fr. Vartan Kasparian.  

A reception in honor of Bishop Datev Hagopian was held at the Hampar Family Reception Room at the conclusion of the service.
