Western Diocese

On Sunday, May 10, 2009, Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan celebrated the Divine Liturgy whereas Rev. Archpriest Fr. Dr. Zaven Arzoumanian delivered the sermon. His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, presided over the liturgy. Rev. Archpriest Fr. Sipan Mekhsian, Chancellor of the Western Diocese, also participated in the liturgy.

Rev. Archpriest Fr. Dr. Zaven Arzoumanian's sermon for the day revolved around the Bible reading for the day and the following verse from the Holy Bible: "He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood" (John 7:18). Fr. Zaven also spoke about the important occasion of the Apparition of Holy Cross.

Primate and his mother The liturgy concluded by the procession of chanting clergy, deacons, choir members and faithful headed by the Primate to the entrance of the building where the latest installed cross-stone - dedicated to "Diramayr" Mrs. Janet Derderian, mother of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate - was consecrated by His Eminence, assisted by the Diocesan Clergy, on the joyous occasion of the Mother's Day.
