We wish to draw your kind attention to a serious issue that requires immediate action on our part. The present situation of the Armenian community in Syria is worrisome and is of grave concern for the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Republic of Armenia. For the past two years, the civil unrest in the Syrian Arab Republic has posed life-threatening emergencies for the Armenian community. Many families have abandoned their paternal homes, their life’s belongings and have sought refuge in foreign countries.

Those who have remained are faced with tremendous economic struggles. Media and press coverage of the civil war reveals the heartbreaking events taking place on a daily basis. We have the moral obligation to extend our helping hands to our Armenian brothers and sisters.

Beloved faithful in Christ, we call upon you to contribute to the Relief Fund through the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America. It is our Christian duty to provide for life’s basic necessities to those in dire need.

Checks can be made payable to the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church (memo: Relief Fund) and sent to the Diocesan Headquarters: 3325 N. Glenoaks Blvd. Burbank, CA 91504.

May God’s peace reign on Earth.

ARCHBISHOP HOVNAN DERDERIAN
