On Sunday, August 10, 2008, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon at the Armenian Church of La Canada. During the celebration of the Divine Liturgy the following young men were ordained acolytes by the Primate: Monte Aladadian, Ari Baranian, Sebastian Aintablian, Kevork Keyo, Dikran Manouil, Alex Sahakian. Martin Zakarian, Allen Janoyan and Gary Sarafian were ordained sub-deacons following the ordination of acolytes by the Primate.

The last ordination performed by His Eminence was the ordination of Priesthood-candidate Sub-Dn. Martin Zakarian to the rank of Diaconate in the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church.
