Primate Visits Davidian Mariamian School Students
On June 5, 2012, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Diocesan Primate accompanied by Archpriest Fr. Hovsep Hagopian and Deacon Hovnan Vardanyan, paid a visit to Freemont Elementary School in La Crescenta where they were greeted by Davidian-Mariamian Educational Foundation President Vahik Satoorian and the after-school teaching staff.
The Primate visited the students and commended their commitment to after-school programs which are aimed preserving the rich Armenian heritage and culture. His Eminence conversed with the students who eagerly shared with the Archbishop about the exciting programs in which they are engaged.
Established in 1987, Davidian & Mariamian Educational Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality after-school programs that promote the high values of education and the beauty of our multi-cultural society.
Davidian & Mariamian Educational Foundation has strong support from the parents and community members as well as the teachers and the principals of the school districts it serves. The after-school program is highly recognized by local, state and federal government officials as an important step for building a strong community and keeping the children away from gangs, drugs, and violence.
