The Armenian community of Havlabar in Tbilisi, Georgia is home to the newly-renovated St. Etchmiadzin Armenian Apostolic Church.
Built in 1805, St. Kevork desperately needed renovation. It was renovated in 1944. The church was renovated again in 1983 and 1990 and was renamed Holy Etchmiadzin.
On January 6, 2010, St. Etchmiadzin Armenian Church in Tbilisi welcomed the faithful. With the initiative of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, the approval of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and the generous support of Dr. Aramayis Paronyan, the former St. Etchmiadzin underwent tremendous renovation. The Re-Consecration will take place on October 22-28, 2010 during the Pontifical visit of His Holiness to Georgia.
