  On Wednesday, May 9^th, 2007 His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian made his first pastoral visit to the Armenian Community of Camarillo.

• Dedicated Members Of St. John Garabed Church In Hollywood Receive Pontifical Encyclicals — May 09

  On Sunday, April 29, 2007, three dedicated members of the St. John Garabed Armenian Church in Hollywood were honored and presented with the Pontifical Encyclicals and the Medals of St. Nersess the Graceful. The recipients were Mr. and Mrs. Nishan Blikian, Dr. and Mrs.Yeghia Taglian and Dr. and Mrs. Hagop Mkhsian.

• Vanoush Khanamerian Dance Ensemble Celebrate 15th Anniversary At Glendale High School — May 09

  On Sunday, April 29, 2007, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, presided at the Vanoush Khanamerian Dance Ensemble’s 15th Anniversary event at the Glendale High School.  Close to 300 children performed traditional Armenian dances.  Noted founders and instructors of the Dance Ensemble are  Samuel Nazarian and Zara Gulakian.

• Rev. Fr. Ghevont Miyilian And Rev. Fr. Vahram Melikian Representatives Of The Mother See Of Holy Etchmiadzin — May 09

  Rev. Fr. Ghevont Miyilian and Rev. Fr. Vahram Melikian, representatives of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin participated in the 80th Annual Diocesan Assembly of the Western Diocese on May 3-5 at St. Gregory Armenian Church in Pasadena.

• Western Diocese Officially Welcomes Honorable Armen Liloyan, Consul General, Republic Of Armenia — May 09

  A reception was held on April 30, 2007 at the Western Diocese in honor of the Honorable Armen Liloyan, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia.  During the reception,  the plaques of the Godfathers, Avak Godfathers and  Benefactors were unveiled.
  

• Western Diocese Honors Ara Abrahamyan, Good Will Ambassador Of Unesco — May 09

  On the evening of May 1st, 2007 a banquet was held at the Western Diocese in honor of Ara Abrahamyan. 

• Mass Of Unity Held At Cathedral Of Our Lady Of The Angels — May 09

  On Sunday, May 6, 2007, His Eminence Cardinal Roger Mahoney and His Honor, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa hosted a Mass of Unity at the Cathedral of Our: Lady of the Angels in light of the tragic violence in McArthur Park.
  

• Eightieth (80th) Annual Assembly Held May 4-5, 2007 At St. Gregory The Illuminator Church In Pasadena — May 09

  The 80th Annual Assembly of the Western Diocese was held on May 4-5 at the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church in Pasadena. The Opening Ceremony and Prayer was officiated by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, and members of the clergy. The Primate presided over the sessions of the Assembly.

• 80th Anniversary Celebrations — May 09

  It is with immense joy that we are informing our Armenian faithful about the upcoming events dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the establishment of the Western Diocese.

• Joint Armenian And Jewish Event Commemorating The 92nd Anniversary Of Armenian Genocide — May 09

  On Friday April 27, 2007, the Jewish World Watch and the Western Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, joined together at the Valley Beth Shalom in Encino,and hosted a dinner attended by over 500 people.   Following the dinner a joint Shabbat Service was held in the Temple with close to 1000 people in attendance. The title of this event was “We Remember, We Commemorate.” 

• Ladies Society General Assembly Held at St. Gregory the Illuminator, Pasadena — May 09

  On May 3th, the 55th Annual Assembly of the Ladies Society of the Western Diocese was held at St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church. His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian presided over the sessions at the assembly and opened the meeting with a prayer.
