Supreme Spiritual Council Meets at Holy Etchmiadzin
Members of the Supreme Spiritual Council met at Holy Etchmiadzin on Tuesday, May 15, to discuss liturgical and administrative issues. His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, presided over the meeting.
The council expressed its condolences to the government and people of Georgia, and to the Georgian Orthodox Church; several people were killed in the country after a river flooded earlier this month. The council also heard a report on the collapse of the bell tower on the St. Nishan Armenian Church of Tbilisi.
Turning to the larger issues facing the Armenian community in Georgia, the Supreme Spiritual Council expressed hope that the Georgian authorities would respond to the applications to restore the rights of the Armenian Diocese in the country.
The council also discussed the task of compiling a comprehensive inventory of properties in each diocese of the Armenian Church, and ensuring their proper maintenance and protection.
