This is Narek Movesyan. He is three years old. In December 2009, he and his mother Anahid traveled to the United States of America to receive treatment for his cancer at the City of Hope in Duarte, California.

The Physicians in Armenia removed his kidney and started Chemo Therapy. Chemo did not help as the disease progressed to his stomach and lymph nodes. They said there is no hope.

Narek and his family would not accept defeat without a fight. He and his mother arrived in America with a medical compassion visa. The specialists at City of Hope Hospital have said it is "NOT too late" and have started aggressive chemo therapy on this brave and special child.

After going through three successful sessions of chemo therapy, Narek is scheduled to have surgery on March 16, 2010. Narek is courageous, brave and hopeful. He flew across the world to survive.

Yes, Narek is a fighter, so we must fight with this brave 3 year-old as his army, soldiers of compassion. In this Great Lenten period, while Narek is fighting for his life, let us remember the great compassion Lord has for those in need. Let us remember healing miracles by which He answered to their prayers. Let us realize that we are Christ’s followers and disciples of His divine mission. We can and should become fuel for Narek’s hope and answers to his mother’s prayers. This treatment is long (9 months) and expensive; the estimated cost is $200,000.

Let us open our hearts and join his fight for life with our prayers and contributions.

“…whoever gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, [s]he shall not lose her/his reward.” (Mt. 10:42)
