Primate of Iraq Visits the Diocese

On June 4, 2009, His Eminence Archbishop Avak Assadourian, Primate of the Diocese of Iraq, visited the Diocesan Headquarters in Burbank, California, and met with His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate. The two Primates discussed the situation of the Armenian community in Iraq. His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian also briefly informed the Primate of Iraq of the construction project of the Cathedral, ordination of new priests in the Diocese, establishment of new parishes and mission parishes throughout the Diocese as well as several other issues pertaining to the life of the Church in the Western Diocese. A number of Diocesan Clergy and Staff also greeted His Eminence Archbishop Avak Assadourian during his visit to the Diocese.
Upon the invitation of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, the high ranking guest-clergy celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church in Pasadena, on June 7, 2009. The Morning Service began at 9:30 AM, followed by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at 10:30 AM.
His Eminence Archbishop Avak Assadourian will celebrate the Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon at St. Peter Armenian Church-Youth Center in Glendale, on June 14, 2009. The Morning Service will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at 10:30 AM.
