Santa Clarita – New Home of St. Sarkis Armenian Church

We inform the Diocesan Parish Priests, Parish Councils, Ladies Societies, Diocesan Delegates, auxiliary bodies and the entire faithful that after the church property was sold, St. Sarkis Armenian Church of Los Angeles temporarily found a temporary in North Hollywood. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated every Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of North Hollywood.

Considering that the relocation to North Hollywood was temporary, the Primate and the Diocesan Council agreed that Rev. Archpriest Fr. Nareg Matarian would celebrate the final Divine Liturgy at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of North Hollywood on Sunday, November 1, 2009.

With the tireless efforts of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, Armenian Church of Santa Clarita Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Nerses Hayrapetyan and the Parish Council, the Santa Clarita Parish acquired a new church-building at the following address: 24626 KANSAS STREET, NEWHALL, CA 91321. Rev. Fr. Nerses Hayrapetyan celebrated the first Divine Liturgy there on Sunday, July 28, 2009. Furthermore, the church was consecrated on August 9, 2009 by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate and His Eminence Archbishop Vatche Hovsepian.

We are pleased to announce that the new church will be called St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church of Santa Clarita and will be consecrated by the Primate on December 20, 2009. The Rev. Fr. Nareg Matarian will be its senior pastor and will serve as the visiting pastor to the Armenian Church of Palmdale.

We are confident that St. Sarkis Armenian Church of Santa Clarita will successfully deliver the mission of the Armenian Church and will serve the faithful of the community.
